Meet Dean Field: UK Account Manager
For Dean Field, account management is about much more than checking in with customers. As DeepAlert’s UK Account Manager, he works closely with monitoring stations and integrators across the UK and Europe to understand how DeepAlert is performing, identify opportunities to improve filtering and make sure customers are getting measurable value from the platform. With more than a decade of experience in the security industry — spanning technical support, CCTV monitoring and control room management — Dean brings both a technical and customer-focused perspective to the role.
What does your role as UK Account Manager involve day-to-day?
I spend a lot of my time reviewing DeepAlert’s performance across customer accounts to make sure everything is operating optimally and that we’re helping our customers achieve the best possible filtering results.
Which parts of the UK and European customer base do you look after?
I cover all of the UK and Europe, and I’m keen to add a few more stamps to my passport as we bring on customers in new countries!
What does a typical week look like for you?
A typical week involves reviewing DeepAlert’s performance against incoming alerts, speaking with customers to make sure the service is meeting their expectations, and working with our internal teams to continually improve the product around customer needs.
How did you get into the security industry?
By chance, really. I had moved home and was commuting two hours into Central London for work, so I needed a change. A customer told me about a company called CSL that was looking for someone to join its technical support team — and the office was only 30 minutes from my new home.
That was 13 years ago, and I’m still in this weird and wonderful industry!
What brought you to DeepAlert, and how long have you been with the team?
Dan! Dan and I had worked together previously, and when the opportunity came up at DeepAlert, he thought my combination of technical and customer-facing experience would be a good fit for the team.
Did you have direct monitoring or alarm-handling experience before this role?
Yes. I helped my previous employer set up its own CCTV control room and went on to manage the team. I also spent time helping to run the control room of one of DeepAlert’s customers, so I’ve seen the monitoring environment from the operator and management side as well.
What’s the most common question or concern you hear from customers when they’re considering DeepAlert?
The big question is usually: “Why should I spend money on AI, and what is the actual benefit to my business?”
That’s where it becomes important to move beyond talking about AI itself and focus on the operational value it can deliver.
What do you enjoy most about working with monitoring stations and integrators?
Getting to understand the real-world challenges they face. Every business operates slightly differently, and I enjoy finding ways DeepAlert can help them become more efficient and proactive while supporting their growth.
Is there a customer project or relationship you’re particularly proud of?
We have a customer in Scotland that wasn’t initially making full use of the platform. Through regular account management meetings and introductions to new members of their team, we’ve been able to increase engagement significantly.
They now have a much better understanding of the value DeepAlert can bring to their business. Continuing with regular visits, training and engagement will help us build on that relationship.
What changes have you seen in the security monitoring industry recently?
AI has been a major talking point in the industry for the past five to seven years, whether that’s edge analytics, alarm filtering or other applications.
What has changed is the conversation. Five or seven years ago, people were asking, “Could this happen?” Now the conversation is, “It is happening — how do we use it?”
That shift is fascinating because it creates a much wider range of opportunities for companies like DeepAlert to support customers, guide them through the technology and help them grow.
Where do you think the biggest opportunities are for DeepAlert’s UK customers right now?
One of the biggest opportunities is expanding into different verticals.
Traditionally, ARCs and control rooms have focused on conventional trigger-based monitoring for intruder alarms, fire and CCTV. With more advanced video analytics, they can start looking at services based around rules such as PPE compliance, slip-and-fall detection, property management and virtual guard tours.
That gives monitoring providers the opportunity to develop new services, enter different markets and create additional ways to grow their businesses.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my family, watching football — I’m an Arsenal fan — listening to audiobooks and playing football.
Any interesting fact people might not know about you?
The one I always go back to is that my wife and I were surrogate parents for our best friends, who couldn’t have children. I later wrote an article about my experience and shared the story from my perspective.
